Meet Chico & Angel, Chihuahuas

Chico & Angel are 1.5 yrs & 1 yr old and stayed with us for the day on Thursday. Their Owners are Snowbirds and it was a relief to them to find a suitable place for their dogs to stay while they went out to enjoy Florida.

It is my first time caring for Chihuahua's in my home.

After about one hour, they warmed up to me so that I was able to hold them in my lap for a bit!

I support microchipping

While I've known about microchipping for a while and have wanted Bailey to get it, it was only this year when he was having his teeth cleaning and getting some warts/cysts removed from his legs/feet, that I took that opportunity to have him chipped. SO glad.

Having a 'Home Again' membership also brings me alerts of lost pets within 10 miles of our home. I then can post these notices on my social media sites and hopefully get more eyes out there looking for them too.

Bailey is not much of a runner nowadays, like he used to be in Idaho. Now when he bolts out the door, he's just heading around the corner to search out the bushes for geckos :)

Bonnie, the Dainty West Highland White Terrier

Miss Bonnie has got cuteness down to an art and knows how to use it! She's a sweetheart and we were privileged to have her as one of our canine guests for twelve days, while her Mama went on a cruise. 

She was with us over Thanksgiving so here are the poses she graciously provided me.

At the beginning of her stay, she and Stella didn't hit it off so well, but by the end of the week, 

they were pals :)

She was curious about what I was doing [readying for a photo...]

She also enjoyed relaxing in the lanai

Over the weekend, she was one of six dogs with us. Four were males and really enjoyed teasing her by hiding or taking her toy duck

And she is generous to a fault...

She never appeared to be homesick or lonely, but the yesterday I did tell her that her Mamma was coming soon for her....

We hope Bonnie comes back to see us soon!

Meet Lucy, She's back with us again!

Lucy is back with us again for a day and half. We met her the first time in September when she stayed for 9 days. Lucy's a 'Mutt' but definitely a 'Lady Mutt'.

It's dogs like Lucy who remind me of WHY I love what I do ~ having genial and affectionate dogs around that enhance the environment they're in and are so easy to love on in return :)

Lucy is gentle, affectionate, sensitive, obedient, submissive and a joy to have with us.

Enjoying some personal attention

Before dusk this evening, we took Lucy & Bailey for a walk/jog at Simmers Young Park and particularly in the vicinity of the almost-ready-to-open NEW DOG PARK in Winter Haven.

This is only 2.5 miles from our home so we're thrilled about it!

After their vigorous workout, Lucy & Bailey slurp cold water from our frisbee

(improvisation)...but they think it tastes better in the frisbee :)

Later in the evening, the dogs are conked out, even snoring.

And it isn't surprising to see Bailey usurping Lucy's bed..........

......while Lucy is conked out at my husband's feet :)
